Moving Backward to Move Forward
Our mission statement is: “Glorifying God by building laborers on the campus for the lost world.” We are constantly trying to find and reach new students, invest time to equip these students, and train them to multiply themselves into others as we export new labores into all the various lost worlds in our communities. Our Resource team shares the same vision as we labor to steward and advance Campus Outreach Minneapolis.
Sometimes soccer teams need to pass backwards in order to find new space and opportunities to be able to move the ball forward and find opportunities to score. The Resource Team has seen a reduction in the quantity of our staff but an increase in deploying and launching new staff into new roles and callings. We look at launching staff as a joy and a gift to invest in these staff and then deploy them out as laborers into the harvest field. We had the opportunity to deploy and launch two teammates this year. Michael Wickenheiser is starting his career as a contractor and Briana Williamson as a employment counselor for refugees. While we miss partnering with Michael and Briana we are thrilled to have labored with them and excited to see God bless their new jobs as they seek to serve in new roles and capacities.
Our team is in the middle of a renovation project led by Holly Lonergan. We want to better steward the resources of our office space and create a space where campus teams WANT to come and work, have meetings and conversation, and invite the students we are ministering to. We believe that quality coffee, comfy chairs and a beautiful workspace can translate into more opportunities for conversation, dialogue, question and problem solving.
