In this talk Cody Walkup talks about our freedom to openly share the gospel with people that we meet and whom we have conversations with. Also he addresses some of the freedoms that we have in talking with each other and our freedom from our desire for attention, pride, and ourselves.
*Free From the Love of Money
During this life training Cody Walkup talks about our freedom from the love of money. He unpacks this with the thought of "We are freed up to give generously when we trust the provision of God over the security money offers". He breaks down what it means to live freely in the security that God provides for his children and what it looks like to use and spend money with a serving and giving heart.
Free Rest, Work Free
In this talk Jared Wass talks about work and what it means to job search and find a job in which we can glorify God. He talks about this by comparing how the world views work to how christians should view work. He unravels this topic by talking about how work is a necessary good, that all work is significant, and we all work from approval instead of working for approval. Jared than ends the talk by asking the question: What drives me to do what I do? Fear? or approval?
Worry Free
In this talk, Larry Martini discusses why its so hard to listen and obey the will of God. He talks about 5 things in society and our lives that should be used and can help us to see God’s plan for our life and to than follow with a joyful and wiling heart.
Free Time
In the first life training talk of the summer, Reid Jilek unpacks what culture and Christianity has to say about free time and busyness in our daily lives. After talking about these two views on free time Reid moves on to discuss how to best use the time that we do have to rest in the truth of the gospel.
Evangelical Free
This life training was given by Reid Jilek concerning the role that the church plays in the life of a Christian. He starts off the talk by stating “the church will be your primary source of growth for the rest of your life”. For the rest of the talk Reid explains his thoughts on the church and being apart of the church as well as the biblical foundations for being tied into and involved with the church.
A Worshipping Lifestyle
Andrew Chesebro warned us of the dangerous dichotomy of “sacred vs secular”. Three reasons the dichotomy is false:
- God made all things good before the fall.
- Because we have fallen hearts, all things are secular.
- All of life is worship.
He begged the question, “are you mastered by things in your life or are you free to enjoy them rightly?” He said that we should allow all things in our lives to point us back to Christ.
Applying the Gospel to Work
Jared Wass, Campus Outreach Minneapolis Mobilization Director, came and spent a few days with us last week. During that time, he gave this talk. He shared with us how work is from God and it is not a “necessary evil” but a good thing that even God Himself did.
Knowing Time Management
Time management a very prevalent issue for college students, and Jay contrasts what man-centered and God-centered time management looks like. How we spend our lives here on earth can and will affect who is worshipping with us in the kingdom of heaven!

A Living Body, The Church
In his life training talk, Shawn Vradenburg goes over the reasons both we and our culture push back against the idea of church, then he establishes the biblical basis for church. After explaining the reasons we go to church, Shawn then outlines what we should look for in a church and then specifies what church IS and is NOT.
Knowing Technology
In a society so dependent on technology, it is important that believers be aware of both the potential benefits and pitfalls of technology. Jay Ripley points out both the dangerous and redemptive qualities of technology, ending with some practical ways that believers can put technology to good use for the Kingdom.
Fear of Man, A Pervasive Struggle
Shawn starts this talk by giving five snapshots of ways that fear of man manifests in our lives. He then talks through the problem of this struggle saying that it is a serious sin, it is unbelief, that we have misplaced fear and misplaced hope.
